Kindness Journey – Day 147 – Old Friends

I really love the quote in the image I attached above. The trouble is, I’ve run out of old friends, or at least friends who are still geographically close enough to make it happen.

Leaving home to attend college ended most of my childhood relationships. While I was an outsider growing up, leaving the small town where I grew up just solidified that difference. I made new friends in college, but once again my horizons called me to go elsewhere.

Eventually, I joined the Navy to satisfy my wanderlust. I made awesome friends but military friends are transient because of the constant moving from place to place. Staying in touch was difficult in the age just before the internet and email.

And so, I don’t have the pleasure of getting together with old friends. I have to settle for making new ones.
