Kindness Journey – Day 122 – Breathing

Breathing is hard for me. I have COPD, which I blame on my stupid decision to smoke for many years. I am now highly susceptible to changes in the atmosphere around me. Days like today find me constantly sneezing as I try to regulate my breathing so that I won’t hyperventilate. In addition, I also find my sinuses congested most of the time, which means constantly clearing my throat because I can’t talk without gurgling due to the drainage.

The constant irritation in my throat is delaying my podcast adventure. If I’m to believe the weather forecasts, the ragweed should drop off in a few weeks. I hope that is the case.

I never imagined I would be in this condition. I’m slowly improving, but I know I’ll never be the same as I was. My life has adjusted to reflect the new normal, and I do my best. I am disappointed with some of my choices, but I accept responsibility for those decisions.

I want to breathe normally again. I know that isn’t possible, so I do my best. I write in this blog and will eventually podcast to the world.
