Kindness Journey – Day 104 – Awareness

I’ve been through a lot over the last 2 years. As Labor Day approaches, I cannot help but be reminded that approximately 2 years ago, I went to the hospital. That turned out to be the first of 5 visits over the next 4 months, during which time I was diagnosed with COPD and Interstitial Lung Disease. To add to those awesome results, my kidneys almost shut down completely. I don’t remember the details because I had been placed into a coma, but I was told that I was listed as Code Blue.

I finally left the hospital around Xmas 2020. I have never felt so weak in my life. I could barely move. It was at least 5 days before I could stand long enough to take a shower. Even then, Hal was in the bathroom in case I fell or passed out.

I bring all this up because of the anniversary, and because I need to recognize what I’ve gone through. I’ll never be as healthy as I was before, but I’m trying to get better every day.

Awareness is key to Kindness. If you are aware of, and understand your situation, then you are better equipped to deal with the things life throws at you. Accepting the present is another key to both Kindness and Growth.
