23 APRIL 2021

The week is finally finished. Yesterday, we completed getting my bedroom organized, and now the entire apartment feels like home. I’ve never had a bedroom with so much space in my life. I’ll be able to practice guitar without feeling confined and crowded. I might even have room for my keyboard to be set up.

On the downside, our friend who has cancer isn’t doing well today. He had a doctor’s appointment, and his blood work didn’t look good. Now he will have more blood work, an EKG, and a chest x-ray today. He texted me while waiting for all this extra stuff to happen. Waiting like that is the worst feeling in the world.

I’m going to get out today with Hal (person) to do some grocery shopping and exploring the area. Now that the nagging feeling of finishing the unpacking is over, life can resume its normal routine. We were cooped up inside most of the week, so getting out will do us some good.

Our first stop was the local post office so Hal could renew his passport. I still have to start my application since I’ve never had a passport before. When I was in the Navy, my military ID was sufficient. I didn’t know how long this would take, but I waited in the car to stay out of the crowd in the post office. Even though we’ve both had our vaccines, there’s no point in taking chances.

We went on to the grocery store after the post office and picked up mist things we needed. Then we came back home to put away the perishable items and eat before we ventured out again.

Our second trip involved a trip to Target, where I bought some sheets, and then we visited a local nursery to check out plants for the patio. We didn’t buy any plants today. After that, we headed home for the rest of the day.
