Goodbye 2020

31 DEC 2020 -Goodbye 2020

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that I’m more than ready to kick 2020 to the curb forever. 2020 has been a disaster of a year with COVID and my health problems that only seemed to get worse as the year drew to a close. I am tired of social distancing, but it won’t go away anytime soon, even when a vaccine becomes available. I predict that masks will not go away anytime in the next 2-3 years because people are accustomed to wearing them now.

I also predict that restaurants will become scarce even after the pandemic recedes. There will be an initial wave of people going out again, but I believe that will subside when people realize how much they save by staying home. Overall, things won’t change that much from the current lockdown other than there won’t be a lockdown.

None of this will happen on January 1st. I hate to be a pessimist, but I don’t think the pandemic will lift until sometime in 2022. Any attempt to declare it over in 2021 will result in another wave of infections that will prolong the entire situation.

The pandemic has been a worldwide severe problem, and it won’t vanish overnight.
