This week is finally at an end. Once work is over this afternoon, I will return to boxing up more items in preparation for our planned move next week. The nagging issue is whether or not the move will happen. Here in Virginia, the situation is most businesses are closed unless they are considered essential. How this affects moving companies is still unclear, I actually emailed my state delegate to ask him that question, but have not received an answer yet. I do know that I can reserve a van for next week to take some items to the new apartment, but the actual move is supposed to take place the following day.
Moving is always a stressful time, the current situation just adds a layer of worry and confusion on top of the normal issues. Hopefully we will be able to get the move accomplished on time, so we can settle into a new routine at the new place. If things are delayed by measures beyond our control, we then face the prospect of negotiating with our current landlord to extend our time here (not preferable) and delaying our move-in date at the new place (hopefully will not be a problem). Either way, we cannot afford to be paying for two places at the same time.
On the bright side, I have been doing a lot of cooking over the last few weeks rather than grabbing something when we went out like in the past. I will try to keep this practice going at the new place once everything returns to some semblance of normal, whenever that might be. I suppose this is the silver lining to the dark cloud of self-distancing
