It is a shame to hear about the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris burning yesterday. To lose a building with such history behind it is a tragedy, but the greatest tragedy is how people responded to the event.
Almost immediately, there were pledges of hundreds of millions from individuals, foundations, and governments to pay for the repairs and restoration to Notre Dame. While this is a noble effort, I wonder where all that money is when it comes to taking care of people who are in crisis all over the world?
Obviously, the money is there, it is just the priorities that are all fucked up.
