Dreamer’s World February 27, 2018 – Starting Another Day And Hoping For The Best

After a long Monday at work and a late night due to picking Hal up from his job, and night without quality sleep, Tuesday has arrived. I hope that all of the efforts I put into pushing through things yesterday will show results today by reducing the quantity of “emergency” items I have to deal with. I know that today will be an 8-hour day rather than the 9 from yesterday and that knowledge will help me to get through whatever Tuesday has in store for me.
As I tried to organize things to get today started, I found a note from Hal reminding me that the first of the potential movers will be here today to have a look around and provide an estimate of what they would charge to move us in April. This will happen in the middle of the day, and I am hoping that it won’t cause too much interference in my day at work. Regardless, things like this have to be done.
At least I know that there aren’t any conference calls scheduled during the projected time for the mover’s visit. Hal will handle the business with them and collect the estimate so we can make a decision later. It is best to get things like this arranged as early as possible since the move is just over 7 weeks away as of today. We would like to have everything all set as soon as possible so we can focus on other things right now.
I am glad that yesterday is over. Today will present its own set of unique challenges, and I will be ready for them. I can be secure in the knowledge that there is nothing that requires us to go anywhere after work, at least, not at this time. I hope that things stay like this, but I am prepared to take Hal anywhere that he needs to go if necessary.
All of the obstacles, both real and imaginary, will be overcome by the end of the day. There just might be some adventure out there that I am not aware of yet that will present itself later on. I think that it is best to keep an open mind for the possibilities that life might have in store for us, and just enjoy the ride.

Dreamer’s World February 27, 2018 – My New Libratone Noise-Canceling Headphones

For a long time, I have wanted to get a pair of good noise-canceling headphones. I had set my sights on the Bose QC-35 II headphones, but I never got them because of the high price tag. I had been getting my personal finances under control and really started trying to justify spending the money on them, but something always held me back. Perhaps it was the high price, maybe it was just common sense, but I wouldn’t buy them unless they came down in price by at least $100.
Eventually, the desire to get new headphones subsided because Bose never recognized the mental messages I was sending to them. I am an audiophile because I love music, and I wasn’t impressed by any of the noise-canceling headphones on the market. After xmas, I figured that I would just wait until something new or better came along. I never gave up on the idea of getting new headphones with noise-canceling, but other priorities were more important to me.
Just over a week ago I was browsing the web one evening, and I decided to check out the Google Store website. I looked at the accessories that are available for my Google Pixel 2 XL and was very surprised to see that there were noise-canceling headphones available in my price range. I had not heard of the company called Libratone before, but my curiosity was aroused.
I began to search the web for Libratone and was surprised at the positive feedback that the company was receiving for their products, including the noise-canceling headphones. Of course, there were YouTube videos that showed the noise-canceling headphones, the Libratone Q-Adapt Wireless On-Ear Headphones. I was intrigued by them and kept up with my research.
I reasoned that if Libratone was considered a good enough brand to be allowed in the Google Store, that there had to be something worth checking into. With the research I had been conducting, my mind began to realize that I might have found the headphones I was looking for.
I finally broke down and ordered the headphones. They arrived a few days later, and I must say that I am tremendously impressed with them. There is an app that Libratone makes for my phone that allows me to control the noise cancelation without any trouble. I have tested them around the apartment, and I have had no problems at all. They are heavier than the Bose headphones, but not to the point of being uncomfortable to wear, and that is a huge benefit.
I found that one of the advantages to the Libratones is that since they are on-ear rather than completely covering the ear, I don’t get the cabin pressure syndrome from wearing them for an extended period of time. They look classy, and that is an added bonus as far as I am concerned. The active noise cancelation works very well and is no problem to adjust as needed.
Of course, any headphones are only as good as the sound quality that they produce. The Libratones are excellent in this regard. The sound quality is right up there with Bose, perhaps a bit more bass than the Bose give me, but I can live with that. The mids and high ranges are crystal clear at all times. I haven’t blasted them at full volume because I never do that with headphones under any conditions. That is why the noise cancelation was so crucial to me in the first place.
I would recommend these headphones to anyone who wants a great sound experience with the option of noise cancelation and a stylish look that isn’t seen everywhere you go.

Dreamer’s World February 26, 2018 – End Of Vacation

This morning marks the end of my vacation. I am back to work after a good night of rest. I made sure to go to bed early last night knowing that today was going to be an adventure, whether I am ready or not. I managed to get almost everything done over the vacation except for going to the casino. That will wait until another time. My money will stay with me for now.
Of course, the first thing that greeted me when I logged onto the network this morning was an avalanche of emails. Hopefully, the people who sent them got the automatic out of office reply I had set up. Unfortunately, this probably means that my phone will start ringing off the hook later this morning. I have my caffeine and am ready to handle all of the emergencies that should have been avoided.
My first task has been to answer all of the emails that required attention and to get my plan for the week put together so I can focus on that until Friday. I also remembered to submit my next leave request for April when Hal and I move to the new apartment. I will discuss that with my supervisor when I meet with her this afternoon for our weekly teleconference call. There should be no problem with taking that time off in April. Hal is taking the lead with arranging the movers so I will work according to his schedule on things.
Lunch arrived, and I was still doing well. The afternoon round of meetings will start soon, and I know that this will be the real test of my endurance. Sitting through the conference calls is incredibly taxing at the best of times, and with me still wishing I was on vacation, I know that it will be difficult. I will make it through and then take Hal to work after I am finished with my day here. I suppose that things could have been a lot worse.
As the workday enters the homestretch, I am making a list of things that we need from the store so I can pick them up after I drop Hal off at his job before I come home. I want to have enough here to cook for several days, so we don’t have to worry about eating out or getting something delivered. I prefer my own cooking anyway.
